In Texas holdem there are two kinds of poker blinds, the big blind and the small blind. Blinds are being required from the players because without them everyone playing on the table will fold all the games except when they are holding excellent pockets. And since blinds are initial bets, players try their best to win the game.
The small blind is the player to the left of the dealer’s button while the big blind is the player two to the left of the button. These players who are representing the small and big blind are the ones who will placed a mandatory bets before the cards are dealt. These blinds will be counted on your total investment towards the first round of betting. So let’s say, the pot isn’t raised preflop, then the small blind will only have to place in another half a bet to call.
Similarly, the big blind won’t have to add bets or put anything more in the pot, but if he wants to he can raise his own blind depending on his hand or his strategy in playing poker.
In fixed limit poker games, the big blind puts up a bet that is equal to the small limit. While the small blind puts up half of the amount. The amount that is placed will depend on how much is the game’s limit. So for instance, if the limit is $2/4, the big blind is $2 while the small blind is $1. This is not similar to the no limit or pot limit poker game.
